Testicular trauma is uncommon because of its anatomic location and the mobility of testes within the scrotum. Most testicular trauma occurrences are related to sports injuries. On MRI, the findings of a testicular fracture include lower signal intensity of injured tissue on T2-weighted images when compared with normal testicular tissue. Contrast-enhanced T1-weighted images are particularly sensitive for the detection of testicular fracture. The injured tissues show marked decreased enhancement when compared with the normal tissue. In contrast, testicular tumours tend to show increased enhancement. Small tears in the tunica albuginea are also well visualized on MRI.
