R.I.P Tape Gate/Spygate
Can we put this Mess to bed now?
There is No Walk Thru Tape. The New England Patriots Did NOT tape the Saint Louis Rams Walk Thru before the Super Bowl XXXVI.
In Case you don’t remember this story by John Tomasse was printed Feb 2nd 2008 where Mr Tomasse wrote:
“PHOENIX - One night before the Patriots [team stats] face the Giants in Super Bowl XLII, new allegations have emerged about a Patriots employee taping the Rams’ final walkthrough before Super Bowl XXXVI.
According to a source, a member of the team’s video department filmed the Rams’ final walkthrough before that 2002 game. The next day, the Patriots upset St. Louis, 20-17, on a last-second field goal by Adam Vinatieri for their first championship.”
Too bad mr Tomasse didn’t check his facts or corroborate the story before running with it. That is something I would expect from a Blogger but Not a Newspaper Writer for a Major Newspaper.

“A former New England Patriots employee has sent the N.F.L. eight videotapes showing the team recorded play-calling signals by coaches of five opponents in six games between the 2000 and 2002 seasons, in violation of league rules.
But the group of tapes does not include video of the St. Louis Rams’ walk-through practice the day before the 2002 Super Bowl. The employee, Matt Walsh, had been linked to such a tape by news media speculation.”
“We consider the tapes of our coaching staff during our games against the New England Patriots to be a Nonissue,” the Steelers chairman, Dan Rooney, said in a statement released in February.”
“This is consistent with what the Patriots had admitted they had been doing, consistent with what we already knew,” NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told the Associated Press last night.”
So what can we make out of all of this? Yes the Patriots taped Defensive and Offensive signals from the sidelines.
That is what they admitted too nothing more nothing less. They Did NOT tape the Walkthrough which as Dick Vermeil said would provide little if any info at all.
I do find it funny that people now want to make a big deal of the offensive signals but there is one major problem with that, They use Headsets to get the plays in from the sidelines so unless you are intercepting the signals taping the Offensive coaches is pointless unless the headsets go down and then we are talking about a Maybe. Maybe they will be of some benefit assuming they haven’t changed signals or have decoy signal givers.
So all you Patriot Haters will just have to find some other Issue to Rant about the 2nd best team last year and yes 18-1 is still better than the Chargers Smokkee The Patriots didn’t cough it up till the SuperBowl unlike your Gay pussy San Diego Chargers and LT who seems to cry about class whenever they lose but feel the need to do their stupid fucking dances yes thats right the San Diego Chargers are the Epitome of Classy on the Football Field.
